Critiques the colonial manufacturing systems by reimagining a one-brand razor through sustainable making, craft-based materials, and research into global supply chains, production, and craftsmanship.

Description :This project critically examines global manufacturing systems by reimagining a Philips razor through a locally grounded production process in Eindhoven, using sustainable materials and human labour to question efficiency-driven industrial models. The work reconstructs the product from scratch after analysing its structure, using alginate moulds, Jesmonite casing, and rattan weaving as alternatives to automated assembly, while accounting for time, labour, and material costs to reveal the real economics of slower, circular production.

It is accompanied by a redesigned packaging system produced through riso printing, which replaces polished commercial imagery with a tactile, hand-made visual language and unfolds into a map tracing the product’s global supply chain, exposing its environmental and socio-economic complexity.

The project is further extended through a two-part video work that combines personal reflection on consumer desire and advertising narratives with documentary research into production sites, including factory visits in the Netherlands and an investigation of assembly processes in Batam, Indonesia, ultimately linking individual experience to broader systems of global labour and production.

Material :

For product mould making, I used Alginate. For the product exterior parts, Jesmonite(AC100) with Glass Fibre is used in a certain ratio that I developed. Rattan is used to assemble all the exterior parts with simple motor electronics inside, with the technique of Weaving

For the packaging of the product, Paper is being used, with the technique of Silk Screen Printing
The brochure as well.
